When I saw a course called Coursera Mathematics for Machine Learning: Linear Algebra, I jumped on the chance to learn about learning from academic experts — David Dye , A. Freddie Page and Samuel J. Cooperfrom from Imperial College London.

It’s a course 1 of 3 in the Mathematics for Machine Learning Specialization where you learn about the prerequisite mathematics for applications in data science and machine learning, It also aims to bridge that gap, getting you up to speed in the underlying mathematics, building an intuitive understanding, and relating it to Machine Learning and Data Science.

Linear algebra is a sub-field of mathematics concerned with vectors, matrices, and linear transforms. It is a key foundation to the field of machine learning, from notations used to describe the operation of algorithms to the implementation of algorithms in code.

The Coursera Mathematics for Machine Learning: Linear Algebra from Imperial College London aims to help students “Have an intuitive understanding of vectors and matrices that will help you bridge the gap into linear algebra problems, and how to apply these concepts to machine learning.”It gave the overview of what linear algebra is and how it relates to vectors and matrices. Then explained what vectors and matrices are and how to work with them, including the knotty problem of eigenvalues and eigen vectors, and how to use these to solve problems.

The course aimed at data-driven applications, which led to implementing some of these ideas in code, not just on pencil and paper.

The course is amazing, Professors teaches in so much friendly manner. This is beginner level course. Don’t expect you to dive deep inside the Linear Algebra. But the foundation will become solid if you attend this course.

Great instructors. The amount of working linear algebra knowledge you get from this single course is substantial. It has already helped solidify my learning in other ML and AI courses.

Coursera Mathematics for Machine Learning: Linear Algebra is a Recommended course to gain mathematical intuition in linear algebra.

Thanks Coursera and Imperial College London for this awesome course.
